March 19th-23rd

Monday:  Our new sight word is “what” and our star letter this week is Ww.  Today we went to art and music.  We also had a visit from Mrs. Keethler and learned about the author/illustrator Kevin Henkes.  We compared two books by Kevin Henkes and discussed his writing style.  We also practiced our capital letter W handwriting.  In math we learned about measuring time and read the story Me Measuring Time.
Tuesday: No School

Wednesday:  We went to P.E. and played Jack Frost outside.  Today we went to the LMC and finished reading books by Mem Fox.  We also went to art and traced decorations onto a Matreska doll.  In math, we practiced counting with our calculators.  We read 2 books by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace and talked about her writing style.  Today we read It’s Spring to celebrate the first day of spring.

Thursday:  Today we read Birds and In My Garden by Kevin Henkes.  We also read What’s What?  We had our spring party and played games and made a craft.  Today we read 2 books by Helen Lester and talked about her writing style.  We had a special visit from Mayor Pradel.  He read us a story to celebrate “Read Across America.” We also had Kinconnect this morning.

Friday:  We read Where the Wild Things Are.  We put the events from the story in order and retold the story with a partner.  We also did a following directions activity.  Today we wrote in our word book.  We watched a video and compared Maurice Sendak books.
