March 5th-9th

Monday:  Today we went to art and were working on our lines for our sock and shoe project.   We also went to music and practiced playing the instruments and singing.  Our new sight words are play and do.  Our new star letter is Kk.  In math we talked about 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes again and played I Spy.  We read The Hat and talked about the story elements of main character, solution, setting, and problem.  We also read Hedgie Blasts Off.

Tuesday:  Today we went to music and practiced for our musical.  In math we talked about coins and learned about the dime.  We also made coin exchanges with pennies and dimes.  We read Pinkalicious and Purplicious.  We completed a story web for Pinkalicious.  Today we made a kite puzzle and read The Bernstein Bears We Like Kites.  We went to the LMC this afternoon and Mrs. Gutmann read us a Mem Fox story.

Wednesday:  We went to art and got to bring home our snowmen.  We also talked about primary colors.  We went to P.E. and played Star Wars.  Today in math we practiced identifying and counting coins (penny, nickel, dime).  We read Kitten’s First Full Moon and completed a story web and answered a question about the story.  We also read Hands Off, Harry! and talked about respect. We wrote in our journal using our popcorn word play.

Thursday:  In math we practiced answering comparison number stories using unifix cubes.  Today we read It’s Okay to be Different.  We also had P.E. and played “Garbage in my Backyard.”  We went to music and practiced for the musical.  We read Aunt Isabelle Tells a Good One and made up a story together that had a setting, main character, problem and solution.

Friday:  We had writer’s workshop and discussed author’s purpose.  We went to P.E. and had Fitness Friday.  For Fitness Friday we did hula hoops, jump ropes, step-up box, and jogged the track.  In math we practiced measuring with the standard foot and our foot.  We made up our own story that included a main character, setting, problem and solution.  We read Kangaroo Kazoo.  We also read Millie Waits for the Mail.

All About Me:  We learned about Katie.
