Nov. 21st-22nd

Monday: We went to art and made a picture of a fruit basket.  In math we learned the new vocabulary words impossible, possible and certain.  We read 10  Fat Turkeys and put the tricky teen numbers in order.  Mrs. Keethler visited and told us about the author/illustrator Eric Carle.

Tuesday:  We went to music and sashayed.  We read A Turkey For Thanksgiving and we made a turkey project.  We went to the computer lab and played on Bailey’s Bookhouse.  In math we continued to learn about probability by talking about more likely, equally likely and less likely.  We read a book and completed a paper about seasons for science.

Reminders: Monday, November 28^th is picture retake day.  Please email or send a note if your kindergartner is getting retakes.

Nov. 14th-18th

Monday:  We talked about less and more and played the monster squeeze game.  We talked about learning centers.  We went to music and practiced a dance.  Our new sight word is “and.”  Our new star letter is Cc and we did the capital letter C handwriting.

Tuesday:  We measured with unifix cubes.  We also went to music class and the LMC.  We made a setting and puppets for Jack and Jill and retold the story.  In science we started learning about the 4 seasons.

Wednesday:  We had a visit from “Jessica the Germ” to remind us how to wash our hands.  We solved pocket problems in math.  We had our first learning centers.  We had Daily 5 to become better readers and writers.  We read The Gingerbread Man. 

Thursday:  We talked about Thanksgiving during KinConnect.  We went to P.E. and played fitness tag.  In math we cut out number cards and put them in order.  We reread The Gingerbread Man and made puppets and a setting for the story.  In Science we matched the trees to the correct seasons. 

Friday:  We read The Gingerbread Man then we retold the story with our puppets and setting.  We had calendar and practiced counting backwards.  We had writer’s workshop.  We read Caps for Sale and answered story problems.

Nov. 7th-9th

Monday: In math we used the pan balance to compare the weights of objects.  We had music and played the button game.  We learned the difference between real and make-believe.  We had art and made an oval for our self portraits. 

Tuesday: We found words that start with our star letter Pp.  We had a Veteran’s Day Assembly.  We read Tacky the Penguin.  We talked about real and make believe penguins.  Today we had music and went to the computer lab.

Wednesday:  We went to P.E. and had stations.  We read the story Bunny Cakes.  It was make-believe.  We had math centers.  We practiced number writing, number stories, shapes and coins.  We did a penguin puzzle.

Oct. 31st-Nov. 4th

Monday:  We wrote in our journals about Halloween.  We read Clifford’s Halloween and we made a Halloween costume for Clifford.  We had our parade and party.

Tuesday:  We read a story about Pat the Bat.  We practiced making words from the “at” word family.  In music we played the button game.  We started practicing number writing in math.  We talked about the new month, November, during calendar time.

Wednesday:  We went to P.E. and played the exercise dice.  In math we practiced patterns (AB, ABC, AAB, AABB).  We also practiced writing the numbers 3 and 4.  We made words from the “op” word family.  We also wrote “op” words. 

Thursday: Today we talked about germs and read a book called The Bernstein Bears Come Clean.  We learned the “ug” word family.  We wrote “ug” words. In math we played roll and record with dice.  We also sorted pumpkins.  

Friday:  We finished our number writing practice book.  We read The Little Engine that Could.  We did writer’s workshop and talked about the part of a letter.  We read the story Dear Annie.  We did the T page in our word book.
