October 24th-28th

Monday:  Today we went to music and sang the Hello Everybody song.  We started practicing our new star letter Rr.  We did our first pumpkin science activity and measured our pumpkins.  Our new popcorn word is “is.”  We compared the lengths of some objects and put them in order from smallest to biggest.
Tuesday:  We did calendar and practiced our popcorn words.  We went to the LMC and learned about the Monarch book contest.  We practiced putting the numbers from 0-10 in order.  We read the story Hooway for Wodney Wat and wrote about our favorite part.
Wednesday:  We did a Venn Diagram to compare apples and pumpkins.  We read a story about  pumpkins and apples.  We practiced answering number stories.  We wrote about our family in our journals.  In pumpkin science we estimated and weighed our pumpkins.
Thursday:  We had a fire drill.  Our class had our first Kinconnect.  In math we learned about symmetry.  We read The Tale of Peter Rabbit.  We made a rabbit puzzle and wrote a letter.
Friday:  We made a graph of our favorite activities in kindergarten.  We did writer’s workshop.  We went to P.E. and had fitness Friday.  We did our handwriting for lowercase r.  We counted during calendar time.

Oct. 17th-21st

Monday: We learned the “oi” sound.  We learned the new sight word “the.”  In music we watched Peter and the Wolf.  We practiced rhyming.  We made a K-W-L on bats.

Tuesday:  We went to music and sang the fish song.  We played a game called alphabet bingo and alphabet matching in the computer lab.  We learned the “ue” sound.  We played the target number game.  We practiced patterns during calendar.

Wednesday:  We learned the “er” sound.  In math we practiced putting the tricky teens in order.  We read another book about bats.  In P.E.  we played a game with pretend snowballs.  We went to art and we painted a pumpkin patch. 

Thursday:  We learned the last Jolly Phonics sound “ar.”  We practiced the tricky teen numbers again and found numbers based on the teacher’s clues.  We made a seal puzzle.  In P.E. we played with the fitness dice.

Friday:  Today we made an AB pattern.  We had writer’s workshop and emptied our finished work from our writing folders.  We read Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.  We made or own magic pebbles.

All About Me: We learned about Isabelle.

October 10th-14th

Monday: No School- Columbus Day

Tuesday:   We learned the “sh” sound.  We learned the new sight word my.  We read books and learned about Christopher Columbus.  Today we went to music and watched a movie.

Wednesday:  We learned the “th” sounds.  We practiced our rhyming by doing a project.  This morning we practiced writing the capital letter M.

Thursday: Today we had math centers.  We learned the “qu” sound.  We played a game to practice counting.  In science we sorted food into the food groups.  We went to P.E. and played a game called fitness dice.

Friday: We learned the “ou” sound today.  We traced lines and clouds and bubbles to get ready for writing numbers.  We made a rhyming book and practiced rhyming.  

All About Me: We learned about Tyler.

Reminders: School pictures are next Thursday, October 20^th. 

Students need to bring a small pebble(about the size of a quarter) to school next Friday, October 21^st  for a project we will be doing.

October 3rd-7th

Monday:   We made pumpkins in art class.  We learned the “V” sound.  Today in math we made shape collages of circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles.  We also went to music.

Tuesday:  We worked on the computer today.  We learned the “oo” sound.  We described the 4 basic shapes.  We read a book called Outside.  We made text-to-text connections.

Wednesday: We went to P.E. and played fitness tag.  We learned the Yy sound.  In art we finished our pumpkins.  In math we did an obstacle course to practice following direction words.  We practiced our text-to-text connections.

Thursday:  Today we learned the Xx sound.  We played the spin a number game.  We made text to text connections again.  During our class meeting we read a book called I’m in Charge of Me.

Friday:  We learned the “ch” sound.  Today we made connections between two books.  We went to P.E. and played a game called Star Wars.  We had writer’s workshop and some of us wrote lists.

All About Me:  We learned about Angelina.
