Sept. 26th-30th

Monday:  Mrs. Schneider talked to us about rules at home and school.  We practiced sorting coins.  We learned the “ie” sound.  We made a KWL chart about fall.

Tuesday:  We learned the “ee” and “or” sounds.  We talked about our 5 senses in science.  In music we learned a fish song.  We wrote in our journal.

Wednesday: We practiced tracking while reading today.  We wrote capital and lowercase Zz.  Today we compared our height to different objects in the classroom.

Thursday:  We went to P.E. and skipped, jogged and galloped.  We learned the “w” sound.  We learned about leaves.  In math we practiced finger counting. 

Friday:  We made scarecrows. We wrote in our journals.  Today we did our calendar activities.

All About Me: We learned about Luca.

Reminders: Don’t forget to look for the first sight word homework to come home on Monday and cut out the first popcorn word.

Sept. 19th-23rd

Monday: In art we made a picture with a hole in it.  We sorted people in math.  Today our class learned the Ff sound.  In KW we will practice making connections to stories this week. 

Tuesday:  We learned the name and sound for Bb.  We had music class and sang a song called “If you’re happy and you know it.”  We learned how to use Stop-Walk-Talk if someone is bothering us. 

Wednesday: We had art class with Ms. Bader.  We went outside for P.E. and played hot and cold.  We learned the sound that “ai” makes.  We practiced sound and motion patterns in math. We made an idea sheet for writer’s workshop.

Thursday: We learned the Jj sounds.   We went to P.E. and did a fitness test.  We wrote a connection to Clifford at the Circus.  We did PALS today.  We practiced spelling color words.

Friday: We learned the sound for “oa.”  We read Go Away Big, Green Monster.  We went to P.E. and played with bean bags.    We finished reading Clifford books and made Clifford ears.

All About Me: We learned about Ms. Wulf.

Reminders:  Periodically, the kindergartners do activities at school that require them to cut words or pictures out of magazines or catalogs.  If you have any old magazines that you would like to donate to our classroom for these activities please have your child bring them to school. Thanks!

KW's Week in Review: September 12th-16th

Monday:  We went to art and music.  We read Ten Apples Up On Top and made a project.  In math we measured strips of paper and used the math words longer, shorter and equal.

Tuesday: We played outside for recess. Today the teacher read Is Your Mama a Llama? and we compared asking and telling sentences.  We learned that authors write about things they know and love.

Wednesday: Today we learned the short O sound.  We had P.E. with Mr. Popovich.  We had social centers today.  Mrs. Horsey came to our classroom and we practiced using deductive reasoning.

Thursday:  We learned about Johnny Appleseed today.  Our sound for today was short U.  We can remember the short u sound by thinking of putting up an umbrella.  We practiced reading during Daily 5 for 5 minutes!

Friday:  We learned about the Constitution.  We read a book of the Pledge of Allengiance.  We also learned the Ll sound.  Today we read the story A Day at the Apple Orchard.

Reminders: Please send in a baby picture with your child on Monday, September 19th. We'd prefer a picture of just the child. We will be writing about what we liked to do as a baby so if the picture shows your child doing something, that would be great! Thanks!!
