Monday: In math we played the count and sit game and also used the pan balance to compare weights. We read nonfiction books to learn about ants. We went to art and put the hair and eyebrows on our self portraits. In music we pretended to be animals with songs and Chloe played us a song on the piano.
Tuesday: We practiced the short a sound again today. We read a fiction book about an ant called An Ant’s Day Off. In math we played train games to practice adding and subtracting with unifix cubes.Wednesday: Today we went to art and watched a Snowman movie. We also went to P.E. and made letters with jump ropes. We practiced reading and spelling words in the “an” word family. In math we made a favorite color graph. We wrote in our journals too.
Thursday: Today was the first day of December. We changed the month on the calendar. In math we learned how to count by 10s. Today we went to P.E. and played with the fitness dice. We practiced long a words. We read the Monarch contest book Memoirs of a Goldfish. We also read Ding Dong, Ding Dong about an ape.Friday: We had P.E. today and ran, jump roped and hula hooped. We read another Monarch story called Imogene’s Last Stand. We did writer’s workshop and began writing our own books. We read an Eric Carle book and talked about Eric Carle’s writing and illustrating style. We also wrote in our journals and word books.
All About Me: We learned about Olivia.Reminders: Please be sure that your child has clothing and outerwear appropriate for the weather each day. The kindergarteners will go out for lunch recess unless the temperature and/or wind chill is below 0. It is also a good idea to have your child practice putting on all of their cold weather items independently at home as well as labeling any snowpants, boots, etc. with your child’s name.
