Dec 19th-22nd

Monday:  We went to music and played the xylophone with our fingers.  Today we went to art and finished our self portraits.  In math we played roll and record with 2 dice.  Mrs. Keethler came and told us about the author/illustrator Jan Brett.  We read The Blizzard and recycled some words from a question into an answer.  In calendar we counted and found out that it is the 78th day of kindergarten.

Tuesday:  We had music class and played the xylophone with mallets today.  We also went to the LMC and heard a story about Los Posada.  In math, we practiced our shapes.  We made the shapes with our body and with jump ropes.    We also made a symmetrical snowflake.   We read Recess at 20 Below and wrote a connection to the story.

Wednesday:  We read the Monarch story Never Smile at a Monkey.  We had a United and Unique assembly with Amanda Crockett.  We compared the book of Stranger in the Woods to a video.  In math we practiced addition with snowflakes.  We also read One Winter’s Day and wrote about our favorite part of the story.  We sorted pictures by their beginning sounds.

Thursday:  We read the last monarch picture book Butterflies and Moths.  We had a workshop with Amanda Crockett.  In math, we did addition problems using socks to help us.  Today was the first day of winter.  We read When Winter Comes and wrote in our seasons book.  We also wrote in our journal about something we will do over winter break.

All About Me:   None this week.

Reminders: Winter break is a great time to replace your child’s home folder and notebook.  Have a great winter break and enjoy the holidays!  School resumes Jan. 9th
