April 30th-May 4th

Monday:  Today in math we made patterns.  Our new star letter is Yy and the new popcorn word is little.  We learned a new poem for the letter Yy.  We read the book Actual Size.  Today we read a book called The Big Yellow Bus and we wrote our own page using the same style.  Today we went to art and started working on our Monet project.  We also had music and thought of ideas for movements.  Tuesday:  Today is the first day of May.  In math we made a number loop and made name collections for numbers.  Mrs. G was here and we made puppets and a school bus to retell the story of The Big Yellow Bus.  We went to music and Mrs. Burke had us practice our movements with music.  We went to the LMC and watched a video about how Denise Fleming makes her illustrations.  The reader of the day was Darren and he read us Clifford Goes to School.

Wednesday:  Today we retold the story of Little Quack’s New Friend.  We went to P.E. and played musical hula hoops.  In art we painted poppies.  Today in math we practiced adding and played the hundreds, tens, ones game.  It was stuffed animal day.  We got to read with our stuffed animals and do a lot of other work with them.   Marisa read us the story Wait for Us.  Today we worked on the Y poem in our poem books.

Thursday:  We read Yo! Yes? Today Angelina’s mom came and did Kinconnect with us and we talked about Earth Day.  We went to P.E. and played the fitness dice.  We read the book called The Five Little Ducks and retold the story with our puppets.  All day long we talked about the things we did in an hour.  We did our lowercase letter y handwriting.  Today Luca read us the story Ride, Fly Guy, Ride!

Friday:  Today we made a poster to teach others how to take care of the Earth.  In P.E. we had fitness Friday and did jump ropes, hula hoops, step up boxes and jogging.  We read the book D.W. The Picky Eater  and made a “Yucky and Yummy” book.  During R&R Tristan read us the book Ten Apples Up on Top.  We wrote in our journal about our favorite day of the week.  We also wrote “y” words in our word book.
