April 23rd- 27th

Monday:  Our new popcorn word is for and our new star letter is Jj.  Mrs. Keethler came today and told us about author/illustrator Mo Willems.  We read a story called I Broke My Trunk.   Today in science we read Earth Day-Hooray and sang an Earth Day song.  In art today we did a project.  We also went to music and learned about nonlocomotor and locomotor movement.  We wrote in our journals about our favorite holiday. 

Tuesday:  Today Lauren read us the book Dancing Class.  We went to music and practiced the two kinds of movement again.  We read Bread and Jam for Frances and wrote about our favorite part.  We also used the pictures and context clues to determine what the words “veal cutlets” and “doily” meant.  Mrs. Guttmann starting teaching us about Denise Fleming in the LMC.   We also read The Pigeon Wants a Puppy and some of us started writing speech bubble stories during writer’s workshop.  In math, we played the plus or minus game. 

Wednesday: Today in P.E. we played baseball.  We listened to Isabelle read the book No Kisses, Please.  We read the story The Jacket I Wear in the Snow and we wrote describing sentences about our jacket and made our jackets.  We also read the book Big Words for Little People.  Today in art we watched a video about the artist Mondrian.  In math, we compared 2-digit numbers in our math workbooks. 

Thursday:  We went to P.E. and played Star Wars.  In math today we put numbers in order on the computer and then put the numbers counting by 5s in order.  Alexis read us the book Friends for a Princess.  Today we read the story Jamberry  and practiced using context clues and pictures to decide what some of the words meant.  We also did lowercase j handwriting.  We read The Jester has Lost his Jingle. 

Friday:  Today we made a project for someone in our family to practice the popcorn word for.  We read the story Jaguar’s Jungleberry Jamboree.  Kaitlyn read us the story Down By the Bay.  Today we went to P.E. and played king pin.  We had writer’s workshop.  We read a book  called Miss Alaineous and the character in the story used a dictionary to find out what words meant.  We wrote in our journal about our favorite thing to do on the weekend.
