Feb 6th-10th

Monday:  It is the 100th Day of School!  We wrote a wish for 100 of something in our journal.  Today we read Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten and made a class book.  We counted our collections by 10s and 1s.  We went to art and finished our fish pictures.  In music we sang a special song about the 100th day of school. We started having a pocket person today.
Tuesday: We went to the LMC and learned about Mem Fox.  In music we acted out the book Stanley.  Today we did handwriting for capital letter L.  In math we practiced counting by 5s and played Roll and Record with 2 dice.  We read Lunch and answered a question and made a project to go with the story.  We wrote sentences that were clues about ourselves.
Wednesday:  We read How Leo Learned to be King and answered a question about the story.  We also made a lion project.  We practiced making “it” words on the computer and then wrote them and read them.  In math, we learned how to write and read tally marks.  We read Marta’s Magnets.  We went to  P.E. and art class.
Thursday:  We read 3 books about ladybugs.  They were all nonfiction books.  Today we went to P.E. and had Fitness Thursday.  We did handwriting for lowercase letter L.  In math we put our tricky teen numbers in order and played the raft game.  We practiced reading words that tell “where.”  Today is open house.
Friday:  We measured in math with our foot, our partner’s foot and the standard foot.  Today we went to P.E. and had Fitness Friday.  We read It Looked Like Spilt Milk and made a class book.  Today was our friend Tyler’s last day in our class and at our school.  We read The Biggest Snowball Ever.  We wrote the L words in our word books too.
All About Me: We learned about Luke.

Reminders: Students are invited to pass out Valentine cards to their classmates on Tuesday, Feb. 14th.  If your child wishes to pass out Valentine cards, he or she should write their name on the “from” section of the card(leaving the “to” section blank) and bring the cards to school on Tuesday.  No candy will be passed out with Valentine cards.
